Tell me about Doug
Doug is one of the UK’s most widely published photographers. Canadian by birth with a degree in Political Science and Economics, he arrived in the uk in 1989, quickly being widely published across the UK and international media. In 1996 he opened Page One Media, building a multi-discipline agency rooted in photography and video production, and embracing DAM, publishing and PR for both editorial and commercial clients. Doug’s unique eye and experience has helped hundreds of businesses globally with often complex projects.
Doug continues after nearly 4 decades of experience to be an enthusiastic and driven photographer, constantly looking for new opportunities and ways to tell stories visually.
In his spare time, you can often find Doug sailing, which is pretty much the only thing he has been doing longer than photography.
How experienced a photographer is Doug?
Doug has been providing photography to companies and editorial outlets in the UK since 1990. He has an unrivalled level of experience and pioneered the transition to digital photography in the early 1990’s.
Doug was the first photographer to send digital images over the mobile phone network in the UK in 1991. Page One, the agency he founded, became the first all-digital agency in Europe in 1999, and he also provided the first cloud-based image hosting with Picture Desk Direct, whose users included E.ON, RacingPhotos, Northants News Service and others.
Doug then transitioned the agency from mainly editorial work to corporate work, and then into video production at the start of the DSLR video revolution.
During all of this Doug continued to lead the creative direction of the agency, shooting original corporate and documentary style photography for some of the UK’s most recognisable brands.
With thousands of photographs published across some of most high profile titles globally, Doug is one of the most published photographers currently working in the UK.
This extensive photographic expertise makes your project stress free, as he brings this to every job.
What is documentary style corporate brand photography
Documentary style corporate brand photography uses the honesty and observation of documentary photography to show your business as it really is. Rather than relying on staged or generic images, it captures genuine people, places and moments, creating a visual story that feels credible and connects with your audience.
Doug brings a background in strong storytelling editorial photography to every project. He takes time to understand your people, your culture and the story you want to tell, then works unobtrusively to create natural images that can be used across your website, social media, press and marketing materials. Genuine photography helps build trust because it gives potential customers a more truthful sense of the people and values behind your organisation.
For M&S, Doug brought this approach to store opening events, turning routine occasions into compelling photojournalistic narratives. By capturing genuine interactions between staff and customers, the images communicated the company’s connection with its communities in a way that felt immediate and authentic.
How much does your photography cost in the UK?
Doug’s photography starts from as little as £200 for an hour on location, and rises to £750 for a day, excluding full copyright release. 2 hour and half day rates are also available.
All rates are exclusive of expenses and mileage.
For all of my costs and to understand how much you might need to invest for your next corporate or brand photography shoot in Leicester, Derby, Sheffield, Nottingham, Lincoln, Birmingham or anywhere in the UK, contact me.
Please note Doug is currently on a hiatus, and this rate card will be updated in 2027.
Can you provide photography on the same day?
Years of experience providing rapid turnaround photography for editorial clients, means that providing pictures on the same day is second nature.
Extensive or complex shoots may take a few days to deliver, but fast delivery for social media, pr, or editorial photography can always be accommodated.
What about copyright and licensing?
All of Doug’s photography is licenced according to your needs. This ensure that you always get best value, and don’t pay for rights you don’t need.
If you require full copyright release, this can easily be provided, including delivery of very hi-res imagery to suite any need.
